What is depression?

Stress is a type of mental illness. Due to any negative thought, it dominates our mind which has a bad effect on our mental state. Due to this our brain stops functioning properly. This condition is called depression. According to various doctors and scientists, it is a negative disease which affects our ability to think and work.

It replaces positive thinking in our brain and gives rise to negative thinking. As a result, we can waste our time and reduce our productivity and thinking ability, which can have a bad effect on our body! This is a type of disease related to our mind.

Sometimes in life there comes a moment in which we become sad and disappointed. We feel sad due to failure and struggle but this is normal. If we keep sitting with that sadness and this disappointment, frustration, helplessness etc. continues like this for a few months, then it can affect our mental health. This becomes stress or depression.

According to the World Health Organization (WHO), more than 20 crore people around the world are suffering from this disease. This problem is very big in India also. This is a very serious problem for our country.

It is a mental illness which generally occurs more in adolescence or in people between 30 and 40 years of age, but it is not entirely appropriate to say this. This is a disease that can happen to humans at any age. If we compare men and women, then the problem of this issue is more common in women, which can have many reasons like hormonal imbalance, pregnancy, genetic disorders etc. apart from mental factors.

It can be of many types. It depends on the severity of the type of it. In some people it is very less and in some people it is very much. People in whom it is found to be severe continue to suffer from depression.

Reasons of depression

There is no single cause of stress because it cannot be said clearly as to what causes someone to become depressed. Some person may have this health issue due to anxiety while others may have some other reason for depression. Doctors and experts believe that there is no role for any reason behind depression. This can happen due to different reasons.

Unhealthy mood

An unhealthy mood is a mood due to which we do not experience happiness. This includes anxiety, apathy, emptiness, despair, nervousness etc. Due to all these, if we do not get happiness then we always remain sad and due to all these, our energy keeps getting lost.

Our mental level keeps getting affected. Due to unhealthy mood, we may face the problem of depression. Negative thoughts keep arising in our mind. We are unable to concentrate. Along with this, we keep experiencing disappointment again and again. Due to unhealthy mood, we get irritated easily. We call even good work bad.

We are forced to think good and bad. In such a situation, a person always remains in a state of helplessness. He is always surrounded by disappointment. He doesn’t like anyone around him. He starts liking loneliness. Even if someone explains a good thing to him, it starts pricking him like a thorn. He starts fighting on every issue. He always worries about his future and due to this the person is not able to enjoy the pleasant things happening in the present situation. All these things can give rise to this illness.

Lack of sleep

For a human being to remain mentally and physically healthy, it is most important to get enough sleep. An adult human being needs at least 7-8 hours of good sleep in 24 hours. If he is unable to complete his sleep then he will feel tired. Due to tiredness he will feel lazy in every work.

Due to all these reasons his entire body will remain heavy and he will not be able to feel fresh. Due to lack of sleep a person does not feel interested in any work. As a result he keeps postponing his work. Due to this, not only the work gets left behind but the person can also get severe depression. Due to lack of sleep, the brain becomes disturbed due to which negative thoughts come in the mind even without wanting. This can lead to the problem of this illness.

Cognitive

Cognitive i.e. reduced thinking ability. Due to this, the person’s concentration may decrease. He does everything slowly. He forgets every little thing and doesn’t remember anything. He keeps remembering some new and some old things. These are all things that can make a person a victim of depression.

Addiction

Addiction is a habit in which people stay away from reality. They do not have the power to accept reality. In a way, we can say that people suffering from addiction can be cowards. Any person who takes drugs loses the ability to face the ups and downs of life. Any person suffering from addiction becomes so far away from reality that if he faces even the slightest problem in real life, he immediately becomes a victim of depression. Addiction is a major cause of this issue.

Due to the fear of what the people of the society will say, a person wastes his built life.

If you are suffering from depression then do not panic, there is a cure for it. you can get through this. You just have to have some courage which will help in getting you out of depression. For its treatment you should talk to a doctor. With this you can end your depression.

1.) Regular exercise

A person must exercise for 30 minutes at least 3 to 5 days a week. Regular exercise increases hormones called endorphins in the body which improve the mood due to which we remain healthy.

2.) Do not consume alcohol and drugs

Alcohol and drugs may give you relief for some time, but long-term consumption can further increase depression and anxiety. Once you get used to it, you cannot give it up easily which is very harmful for your body. Therefore do not consume alcohol and drugs.

3.) Take care of yourself

You can get improved by taking care of yourself. For this, take good sleep. Eat a healthy diet, stay away from negative people, and participate in enjoyable activities. Include whole grains, fruits, vegetables, proteins, eggs etc. in your diet.

4.) Light Therapy

With the help of white light, depression can be cured and the brain can also be controlled. This therapy is used to treat major depressive disorder.

5.) Seek help from a psychiatrist

By going to psychiatrist you can control your negative emotions and thoughts as well. You may also benefit from family or group therapy sessions.

Depression is a very common but serious problem from which a person may need medical help to come out. Depression is not madness. Depression patients can recover completely. Correct information is very important for the treatment of depression. To get rid of this problem, the cooperation of the doctor, the patient, the patient’s family and friends is very important.
